A method of performance and composition that works toward an emotionally and psychologically coherent artistic process. It draws on the thinking of artists-psychiatrists, C. G. Jung, Nise da Silveira, Vitor Pordeus and on their ways of approaching the unconscious and art as something that's alive and to be listened to.
At its heart lies the relationship between the psyche, body, and artistic process. The method grew out of frustrations about artistic environment and art which had grown detached, individualized and incoherent. I wanted to find a way to bring the missing parts back into the process and to break out of mindset of creating projects and objects.
The practice moves through writing, painting, musical and verbal improvisation, and composition. These are not separate exercises but a sequence, each step opening onto the next, slowly drawing the unconscious into form. What begins as a gesture, a fragment of sound, a line of text, gradually becomes a doorway. Through it, other voices begin to surface, other topics appear, and intentions that were there all along might take their shape.
