Flavia Huarachi & Aurelijus Užameckis

Andean flute player/ singer Flavia Huarachi and Baltic contrabass player Aurelijus Užameckis narrate through songs in Aymara and Spanish about their encounters with the ‘time of Amaypacha’ - a time to connect with one's ancestors and reconcile with the past. Combining the folklore of their diverse roots in a duo, they knit together ancient and modern expressions, along with stories of origin and multicultural identity.

“Huellas” (Footprints) was created in 2021, while traversing through the Bolivian Altiplano. In their path they came across beloved Bolivian musician, composer, and producer Alvaro Montenegro and recorded their debut album in his studio, located in the village of Achocalla. A combination of traditional and modern instruments bring the music into being - charango, tarka flutes, transverse flute, contrabass and different percussion, weaving a unique fabric of sound and rhythm
